Zero-in on Camile Pearse Street as We Introduce Reusable Packaging in Partnership with Vytal Ireland

28-02-2023

28th February 2023: Camile Thai is proud to be Ireland’s first takeaway restaurant group to introduce reusable packaging, today announcing details of an exclusive new pilot programme running in partnership with app-based reusable platform, Vytal Ireland.

From Monday 6th March, customers visiting Camile Thai Pearse Street will have the option to choose to reuse when they order their favourite signature dish, with no deposit required. After finishing their meal wherever they choose, patrons have 14 days to simply return the packaging to the restaurant* where it will be reabsorbed into the system and ready for its next use!

Commenting on the pilot and Camile Thai’s continued commitment to Ireland’s 2025 and 2030 EU packaging waste reduction targets, Daniel Greene, Managing Director Camile Thai Kitchen said;We are proud to be the first takeaway in Ireland to offer our customers the opportunity to choose to reuse their packaging with Vytal’s innovative technology. As a business, Camile is committed to supporting the development of sustainable communities by discovering new solutions to industry issues that are contributing to climate change.
“This pilot will enable our customers to cut down on their packaging waste, but it also provides a convenient city centre location for Vytal users to deposit their packaging for free. Our overall aim is to encourage, enable and increase the uptake in reusable solutions across the industry, reducing the circulation of single-use containers and supporting a circular economy, for the benefit of us all.

Originating in Germany, the Vytal reuse system is Ireland’s first digital reusable platform for takeaway food and beverage packaging, allowing consumers to sign up and ‘borrow’ individually assigned QR coded packaging.

Explaining how the Vytal process works and the importance of this new pilot, fellow restaurateur and Co-Founder of Vytal Ireland, Michelle Moloughney said: “Camile’s investment in Vytal’s reusable system is extremely encouraging as we work towards a zero disposable packaging future. The simple and efficient return process that will be made available to guests via this Pearse Street pilot, will hopefully encourage more customers to try this service and see for themselves how easy it is to choose to reuse.

“Camile Thai has led the hospitality industry for many years in the area of sustainability, so we look forward to working closely with the group on the continued roll-out of this programme, inviting Pearse Street patrons to join our over 400,000 registered users by simply downloading the Vytal app before choosing their favourite Camile Thai dish.”

Vytal containers can be used over 200 times, with as little as 10 uses saving up to 30kg of CO2 compared to polystyrene or aluminium packaging. Perfect for takeaway food on the go, these leak-proof, microwavable containers can be returned to any participating Vytal partner across Ireland within 14 days, with the option to extend the return deadline by a further seven days for just €1.

Nominated under the Sustainability category at this year's Just Eat Takeaway Awards, Camile Thai continues to be an industry leader in the area of premium quality, sustainable food solutions for dine in and at home delivery. Last year introducing carbon ratings on menus, the Good Mood Thai Food specialists were the first in Europe to launch 100% compostable packaging. Poised for further growth across Ireland and the UK, the Group continues to invest in innovative solutions to drive positive change in local communities.

Vytal containers are now available in Camile Thai Pearse Street and can be accessed via the Vytal Ireland app. For further information check-out www.camile.ie
